To build green, sustainable communities in West Hartford and neighboring areas where people and nature thrive together.

Mission

We connect community resources and partners to safeguard the local environment, expand public green space, and encourage sustainable lifestyles through volunteer programs, microgrants, and neighborhood action.

Strategic Goals (2024–2027)

Create Community Green Spaces

Establish at least 5 new green spaces (community gardens, street tree lines, public planters) in West Hartford and nearby neighborhoods.

Cut Waste & Boost Recycling

Collect and recycle 50 tons of waste through annual “Zero Litter Days.”

Community Engagement

Host 12 community events each year to raise environmental awareness and action.

Seed Local Initiatives

Support 20 microgrant projects proposed by residents on trees, energy saving, and urban habitat restoration.

Environmental Cleanup

Neighborhood and park cleanups, source separation, bulky item pickups by schedule.

Tree Planting & Care

Native tree planting, street tree infill, seasonal watering and maintenance.

Recyclables collection, “Trash for Trees” exchange booth, DIY upcycling workshops.

Featured Event — Winter Green Festival 2025

Date: Sunday, December 14, 2025   |   Venue: Elizabeth Park, West Hartford

One-day Schedule

  • 08:00–11:30 — Park & pathway cleanup; sorting for recycling.
  • 13:30–16:30 — Planting 120 native trees along park edges and adjacent streets.
  • All day — “Trash for Trees” booth: exchange recyclables for a free seedling.

Winter Green Festival brings neighbors together to clean and re-green a beloved public space. Every sorted bag of litter and every tree planted is a promise to a cleaner, greener, more resilient West Hartford.
